Jesus said, "The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven,...
Jesus said, "The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened." I used to wonder, in the old thought, what those words meant, and I never could understand, but now it is different, for the old things have passed away, and all things have become new. The leaven has been hidden in my consciousness, by our Leader, through her wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and it is working.
My experience in Christian Science covers a period of only one year and a half. Prior to that time I practised medicine in New York City for fourteen years. I have spent years in hospital work, at the hardest kind of labor and study to acquire the knowledge and experience necessary to cure disease and to alleviate suffering.
During the past eighteen months I have seen more people who have been cured of hopeless ills, more suffering alleviated, and more real help received in time of trouble than in the whole fourteen years before. For this experience and for the light that has come to me I thank God. To our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, my gratitude is unbounded. I am a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in New York City and I am very thankful to all those who have lovingly and wisely helped me thus far, up "the rugged way."
