I came to Christian Science for healing from nervous prostration and dyspepsia, with all their accompanying train of ills, and from a deplorable mental darkness that was "without God and without hope."

I had inherited these troubles and believed that I must die from their effects. I had actually reached the state where I was perfectly willing to depart, feeling sure that the next condition—if perchance there be one—could not possibly be any worse, nor my suffering, either mental or physical, be any more unendurable than here.

I was healed immediately of the dyspepsia, although the mental depression and fear of my food did not yield for some weeks, but it gradually faded out, even as the memory of an unpleasant dream. My one desire since then has been to keep my mental world a place of purity and peace, where Love reigns supreme. I find very true the words of our beloved Leader: "The warfare with one's self is grand; it gives one plenty of employment" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 118).—Maud Winton Bealer, Jamestown, N. Y.
