The Bank of Love
Suppose some one should proclaim to the world that a bank had been opened whose capital was infinite. That it was free to all to draw upon and for all the money they needed, would not this proclamation bring joy to the minds of many and take away their haunting fear, their dread of poverty? Well, this is just the news that has come to Christian Scientists in the understanding that there is a supply of Love that is able and willing to meet the needs of all mankind.
It would certainly be foolish for any one to refuse to benefit himself by the supply from the material bank, and it is not less foolish, surely, for those who know the truth that Love is the real substance, not to avail themselves of their privilege in drawing on this bank. So when a question of need arises, we should go right to this bank in perfect trust and confidence, and let our consciousness of supply be controlled by what is ours there.
In the material case, those who understand the use of money, would make the largest demand for it, so those who best understand the distribution of Love, will make the most demands upon the bank of Love, and in doing this, they will surely find, as our Leader says, that "Giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us" (Science and Health, p. 79).
