I most thankfully give my testimony as to my healing...
I most thankfully give my testimony as to my healing through Christian Science. I have delayed doing this for a time so that I could say that I am cured. In 1890, I was attacked with indigestion and stomach trouble to such an extent that my life was often despaired of, though I tried to get relief from the best doctors I could find. I could not eat solid food of any kind for over ten years, and for about the same time I could not and did not have a natural action of my bowels, having to use artificial means every day. I supposed, and the physicians said, that my bowels were paralyzed, so that I never could be cured. I had given up hope of ever being cured, since over twenty doctors had treated me and failed to help my case. I suffered extremely at times, and medicine taken internally would not relieve me; nothing but hypodermic injections of morphine would relieve the terrible suffering in my stomach and bowels.
I was introduced to Christian Science through my daughter, and as a last resort I submitted to treatment by a Christian Scientist, which began in September, 1902. At that time I was also badly affected with rheumatism in both arms and in my breast. In October, 1902, my bowels began to act regularly without the use of any medicine whatever. I could and did digest my food regularly, no trouble arising from eating anything, and my appetite was and has continued good. My rheumatism all left me, and none of my ailments have ever returned. I have increased in weight about fifteen pounds, and have been and am still able to eat all I want, and since last October I have been able to work every day.
I feel as well as I did twenty-five years ago, although I have reached sixty-seven years of age. I feel truly thankful to be able to give this testimony, and I willingly and thankfully give the credit to the Christian Science treatment, which effected a cure that I could not get in any other way,—G. W. Paul., Painsville, Ohio.
