It is now two months since I began studying "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy.

Some days ago something happened that left me so weak from a feeling of incapacity that I could simply hold on to the words, Lord, help me! In my agony error even tempted to self-destruction Science and Health was near me, and I took it up saying, "Dear friend, what have you to tell me?" With a heart throbbing with grief I fell on my knees beside my bed, and on opening the book my eyes fell upon the paragraph beginning, "Dost thou 'love the Lord thy God with all thy heart?' "(p. 9); I read through to the end of the page, and rose from my knees comforted but struggling. Later on I was enabled to make a demonstration of love, and then there came over me that calm, sweet peace that succeeds the storm. As is said in Isaiah, "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." To-day I can say Science and Health is the standard that the Spirit of the Lord has raised up for me against the enemy. I say with the Psalmist, "Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear." I will go forth in the strength of the Lord, in the power of His might. The studying of my Bible has been nothing new to me, thank God; but Science and Health has brought me something new; that is, it has brought to me the understanding of my relationship with God, a knowledge that I would not exchange for all the precious things of earth.

Thank God for Christian Science! When I think of the struggles Mrs. Eddy must have passed through before she reached the summit of the hill of Science, it gives me courage to press forward.
