A little more than four years since, I was led to Christian Science. I was afflicted with many chronic ailments. I was also unhappy as the result of disappointments and troubles of various kinds. The world seemed a blank to me, and I cared very little for any thing or any one except my three children, and was always wondering what would become of them, as I had no idea of living to bring them up.

A kind and loving Christian Scientist, who, as it has always seemed to me, was sent by divine Love, moved into the house next door, and she at once began telling of this healing truth. I thought it sounded more beautiful than all the things I had ever heard, but I did not see at once that it was for me, or that I could be healed. Yet I thought I had never heard of such a good God, so ready, so willing, so able to destroy all sickness, sin. and death. I told her I had never believed in God, as He had always been presented to me. I could not and would not accept such a God.

Well, I soon learned that I had never heard of God, for He had never been shown to me. The God I had always heard of was only the human mortal-mind idea of God.
