Whenever I read the testimonies given in our periodicals, I feel a sense of shame that I have permitted so many years to pass, while I have remained silent as to the great good that came into my experience at the time Christian Science was brought to my notice.

Twelve years of invalidism, found me helpless, with the death sentence pronounced by eminent surgeons and physicians. During this time I had been upon the operating table to no effect, on account of what proved to be a false diagnosis of my disease. I recovered only to endure greater suffering from most excruciating pain which was relieved partially at times, through opiates—morphine and atropine—administered sometimes every twenty minutes. I was operated on for a spatulated fibroid tumor, when it was revealed that the disease was cancer of the uterus, and not removable.

In this condition I was in the care of physicians and nurses for two years, and at last realized that death was the ultimate. At this point, a Christian Science friend called to see me, but was told that no one was admitted, as I was dying. This lady had frequently, for two years, urged Christian Science treatment to no avail, but in this extremity she pressed its claims more strongly, saying, "Since there is no further hope or help in materia medica, why not give Christian Science a trial?" Gaining consent, she went away without seeing me and procured help.
