When I first became interested in Christian Science, an incident...

When I first became interested in Christian Science, an incident happened which has continued its good work ever since.

My little son was about four years old. He was complaining, I think with an earache. I took him on my lap, and opening Science and Health at page 14, I read "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints." Quickly he exclaimed, "That's it, mamma; make it all one moments and I'll be all right." I read the passage over and over, until he said, "There now, I am all right." So, after that, let there be any discordant thought, and he would run to me saying, "Read 'Become conscious for a ... moment,' " and the reading with the realization of its meaning was satisfying, for away he would bound, saying, "It's all gone now."

I taught him his letters, and after that he would get Science and Health, find the page, and spell it all out for himself, with the result that perfect harmony was manifested. This was some time ago, and still that same passage appeals to him, when seeking for the realization that all the moments belong to God.
