I first heard of Christian Science three years ago, and I...
I first heard of Christian Science three years ago, and I became convinced at once that it was the truth through the healing of my dear mother. She and I purchased a copy of Science and Health together, as we were both interested and read a great deal during the winter; and in the spring, when I left her, she paid me for my half interest in the book, and I sold chickens to get enough to purchase a copy for myself.
Since I have learned that god is the source of our supply, that He "always has met, and always will meet, every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494), the sense of limitation is yielding fast. We now have property rented and are getting along well.
I am writing this and hoping it will be of great benefit to every one who seems to be bound by the sense of need. We must not build walls around ourselves. If it is right that we should have certain things we shall receive them in due time, if we are wise and patient. There is work for us all, and we should put all our trust in the one loving Father, who heals all our diseases, and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I have the latest edition of Science and Health now, and take the Sentinel, which is my dearest weekly visitor. I also take the Quarterly, and study the Lesson-Sermon, and on Sunday read it with my mother or sister, as we have no church near us. My great desire is to get where I can attend the Science church. It would be of much benefit to me, for I hope to raise my children in the understanding of Christian Science. I could write pages regarding the benefit that Christian Science has brought to me and my family. There is nothing that seems to me as it did before. I see a new world, and the former things have passed away. I have had several good demonstrations, but when fear seems to be manifest I call on my loving helper, who is always willing and ready to do God's work, and the fear and its manifestation vanish at once. I put all my trust in Truth "and have no other trusts" (Address of Mrs. Eddy).
