The Truth of the Matter
Houston (Tex.) Post
To the Editor.
In your issue of Monday, October 6, was an unwarranted attack upon Christian Science by Dr. Leavell, in an abstract of his sermon delivered in the First Presbyterian Church, this city, and it is with the view of correcting misapprehension of the teachings of Christian Science that I ask the privilege of replying.
Christianity was ushered in through persecution from other sects who differed from it; and to-day, as of old, the cross still attends its efforts to bless humanity; but where one has a message which he knows will comfort the sorrowing and help them, he delivers that message without fear of unkind criticism or uniust comparison.
