Among the Churches

It is with joy and rejoicing for blessings received, that we send greetings to the Field.

Christian Science work was begun in Lawton soon after the opening of this new country, in August, 1901. We began holding services in a tent with four students. As our town progressed our work grew, and we soon had to change our place of service from the tent to a two-roomed dwelling house. Our numbers increased until it was advisable to organize a church, and in February last, we organized with thirteen members.

April 1 we had a lecture by Edward A. Kimball which was well attended and which awakened much interest. Many have investigated Christian Science as a result. Soon after the lecture we moved to a better and more commodious room in the business part of the city. This room nicely furnished is now open at all hours of the day with Christian Science literature for distribution, and Mrs. Eddy's works for sale, or to be lent to seekers after Truth. There is always some one in attendance to welcome and help the stranger. Our church services are also held in this room. Our numbers have naturally and constantly increased, being drawn from all classes. Excellent demonstrations have planted the seeds of Truth in different parts of our country and city; these are now growing and ripening into an abundant fruitage. We are striving to manifest watchfulness, prayer, and obedience to our Leader's counsel and advice that we "keep our minds so filled with Truth and Love that sin, disease, and death cannot enter therein."
