Received Nation's Sword
Tuesday, October 3, 1899, Admiral Dewey received from the hand of President McKinley, the magnificent sword awarded him by an act of Congress. The presentation speech was made by the Secretary of the Navy, John D. Long, who spoke as follows:—
My Dear Admiral:—Let me read a few extracts from our official correspondence, covering less than a fortnight's time, and now known the world over.
