As Seen by a Hindoo Pundit
The Assayer
In Chicago recently the ladies of one of the great churches invited a Hindoo pundit passing through their city to deliver a lecture "for the benefit of the church." Mr. Raya Yog—for that is the gentleman's name—did not lecture, but he wrote a letter to those ladies, which it is sincerely hoped they profited by.
In this letter Mr. Yog says:—
Ladies:—You have been graciously pleased to ask my assistance in an undertaking for "the benefit of your church." Pardon a stranger both to your religion and civilization, if I venture to ask, "Of which church?" For to my apprehension there are two: the Church of Christ, and the Christian Church.
