Inflammatory Rheumatism

I had never heard of Christian Science nor had I attended church in nearly thirty years until I happened to attend a Christian Science meeting. I was so impressed with the sermon that I continued to attend both the Wednesday evening and Sunday meetings until I had a chance to talk with the First Reader, who afterwards became my healer and benefactor.

I had been a great sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism for more than twenty years, a great deal of the time being compelled to walk on crutches. I was in the Soldier's Home for two years and a half, and became very fleshy, weighing two hundred and forty pounds, and was scarcely able to walk any distance. I also had a large tumor that the doctor at the Home had blistered and made very sore, but could not remove. They finally talked of taking me to the hospital to perform an operation. Rather than submit to the operation I left the Home. I had also become addicted to the use of liquor like many others. I went into the service young, I had used tobacco for nearly thirty-eight years of all of which I was completely healed. My weight has been reduced fifty pounds. I have been in the great copper mines of Idaho all summer, and have been able to climb the highest mountains and sleep in wet blankets, and have never felt rheumatic pains but once since. I then received absent treatment and was relieved in two hours after telegraphing my healer, one hundred miles away.
