Wallet recovered, sprained ankle healed

After a meeting in another city, I discovered my wallet was missing. The money involved was negligible, but the wallet contained items essential to my departure the next day. Instant, fervent prayer brought the assurance of God's ever-presence and shut out even a momentary sense of loss or discomfiture.

I took off on foot to cover the few blocks to my hotel. As I opened the door to my hotel room, the telephone was ringing. It was my husband calling from our home. A taxicab driver had stopped and retrieved the wallet from the middle of the street some distance from the hotel and had called my home long-distance to ask my whereabouts. In twenty minutes the driver was delivering my wallet, adamantly refusing a reward. Except for the small amount of cash, the contents were intact.

Christian Science has also met the need for physical healing in my family for five generations. Last fall my husband and I attended a professional conference. That afternoon, while rushing to one of the sessions, I fell on a staircase and badly sprained my right ankle. I managed to get myself back to our hotel room and called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. The pain disappeared almost at once. I then discovered to my dismay that I had not packed my copies of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. To my delight, however, there was a copy of the familiar and beloved King James Version of the Bible in my room. It met my need. I spent the rest of the day in prayer, quietly imbibing the Bible's healing message.
