The Basis of True Health
The human family makes a mistake when it defines health materially and looks for it in matter.
The great Exemplar, Christ Jesus, declared, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing." John 6:63 And it was by the Spirit —through Spirit alone—that he healed so decisively the ills of the flesh presented by the suffering humanity of his day. The apostles followed his example, and so did the early Christians until materialism and ritualism obscured the practice of pure Christianity. However, the quest for health and healing continues, and we may well wonder if a sense of unvarying health can ever be achieved from a material standpoint.
Today, sincere seekers are finding in the teachings of Christian Science a provable explanation of the Master's healing basis and method. They have found that genuine health is spiritually mental, a divine, eternal fact, universally present, the perfect condition of the infinite Mind, which is God. Health is not a condition of matter, governed by material law—a thing unstable and precarious.
