Many years ago my mother was searching for a religion that would be useful in sickness as in health. Christian Science came into her experience. She joined the church and enrolled her three children in the Christian Science Sunday School. A few years later my father and maternal grandmother became members of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

I had been a very sickly child. Every season brought some illness. However, after I was enrolled as a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School, I became extremely healthy. I was so grateful for my health and well-being that I joined the church and had Christian Science class instruction when still very young. I graduated from college and taught school, and was seldom absent because of ill health.

I am grateful that our two children were born in a nursing home for Christian Scientists. I was perfectly well and healthy during my first pregnancy; however, during the night before the birth, a Christian Science practitioner had to be called because of complications. The practitioner told me to read a hymn, No. 58 in the Christian Science Hymnal, which states in part:
