"To think and act rightly"
Mrs. Eddy writes, "Our thoughts beget our actions; they make us what we are." The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 203; So the teachings of Christian Science, which conform to the inspired Word of the Bible, reveal the relationship of right thinking and acting.
A Scriptural proverb records this fact about a human being: "As he thinketh in his heart, so is he." Prov 23:7; Is it possible, then, for thought and action ever to be separated? How encouraging it is to learn that one can at any moment improve his experience by changing or uplifting his thinking! These are Mrs. Eddy's imperative words: "Know, then, that you possess sovereign power to think and act rightly, and that nothing can dispossess you of this heritage and trespass on Love. If you maintain this position, who or what can cause you to sin or suffer?"Pulpit and Press, p. 3;
One may question how he can become aware of possessing the power of thinking and acting rightly. He might say, "Is this possible for me, for everyone, or only for a favored few?"
