I cherish the Sentinel, for it was...
I cherish the Sentinel, for it was by reading this periodical that I first became acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science.
When I was a young businesswoman, the company which I worked for gave me a transfer to a larger city so that I could continue my musical studies. Having spent all my life in a small town, I was unacquainted with and unaccustomed to the ways of living in a city. However, in reaching out for new friends I found one who was a sincere student of Christian Science.
Out of curiosity, I accepted an invitation to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist, with her. Church attendance was my regular habit on Sundays, because I had been reared in a good Christian family. From my first visit, I was impressed with the services. The dignity, reverence, quiet, and orderliness with which the services were conducted made a lasting impression on me, as did the cordial way those attending greeted each other. I wanted to know more of this religion.
