Crime Is a Product of Ignorance
In the light of Christian Science it is utterly unintelligent to think that one can do wrong and get away with it. God is omnipresent Mind, the all-seeing intelligence. How can one hide from divine Principle? There is no escape from the presence of Truth and Love. When we learn these simple facts, we can see how wise it is to conform to the control of our Father and to come under the blessing of that control.
It is also true that in dealing with our brother men we are basically dealing with ourselves. Paul pointed this out. He said (Gal. 6:7), "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." And Mrs. Eddy reiterates this same truth in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 449): "The wrong done another reacts most heavily against one's self. Right adjusts the balance sooner or later. Think it 'easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle,' than for you to benefit yourself by injuring others."
In the light of these facts one must conclude that crime is a product of ignorance. It is based on misinformation. As one understands the nature of God as divine Principle and the nature of man as God's image and likeness, it becomes possible to rule out crime, first in one's own consciousness, then in one's immediate experience, and finally one can help to eliminate it from society as a whole.
