In 1938 my first written testimony...
In 1938 my first written testimony of two healings appeared in the Sentinel. The following year I had the privilege of class instruction. The ensuing association meetings have been a constant source of fresh inspiration. Membership in The Mother Church and active service in a branch church over the years continue to be satisfying. My gratitude to God for His goodness, mercy, and love, for Christ Jesus, our great Master, and for Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, is immeasurable.
A recent experience gave precious proof of God's promise, "Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear" (Isa. 65:24). Early one week I was using the Concordances to look up references to the word "encompass" in Mrs. Eddy's writings when I came upon this sentence, the second half of which impressed me (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 110): "Weeks have passed into months, and months into years, since last we met; but time and space, when encompassed by divine presence, do not separate us."
A few days later, as I opened Science and Health, my attention was arrested by these familiar words of our beloved Leader (p. 293): "The material so-called gases and forces are counterfeits of the spiritual forces of divine Mind, whose potency is Truth, whose attraction is Love, whose adhesion and cohesion are Life, perpetuating the eternal facts of being."
