God has surprised us by making us aware that we are participants in one of the great periods of all Church history.... Not the least of His works is in the field of ecumenism.... Ecclesiastcs reminds us that there is "a time to break down, and a time to build up."
In Britain we hear that there are those who seek union of the churches by 1980.... Could we not join with others in seeking broad unification of ministries by that date—or even sooner? This is one reason I am interested in Methodist participation in the Consultation on Church Union, and this might well be a concrete next step to be sought in that forum.
