RADIO PROGRAM No. 198 - Faith Needs Roots

QUESTIONER: I think most people admire the faith in God they see others express and often wish they had more of it themselves. In fact, you sometimes hear the comment, "I wish I had more faith." But people seem more likely these days to put faith in things they can see rather than in something they can't see.

SPEAKER: That's true to some extent. Yet what we see with our eyes isn't the whole picture. When you look at a tree, for example, you see its trunk, branches, foliage, and fruit; but all of this is sustained and supported by the roots you don't see. Now, faith in God—that is, faith in divine power—needs strong roots to support our confidence and ability and to strengthen us to meet the challenges of the day.

QUESTIONER: What kind of roots are you talking about?
