NEVER BORN

Never born—what worlds of woe
melt at those words! No blinding flow
of desperate tears of sharp regret
need drown your hope of good. Forget
ancestral weaknesses, conferred
on helpless babies and inferred
to wield a lifelong servitude
from cruel sentence passed. Elude
bondage from such imposed belief—
the trespass of a callous thief.
Now hear the precious words resound:
Oh, never born! Oh, never bound!
