"They need not depart"

By the feeding of the five thousand, as recorded in the fourteenth chapter of Matthew, Christ Jesus proved conclusively the presence of God, the ever-operative divine Principle, whose law is continually operating, irrespective of time or condition. The Master had been preaching to the multitude, healing their sick and lifting their thoughts Godward. But when it was evening he was reminded by his disciples that they were in a desert place, and that the people should be sent away to buy food.

With what confident assurance Jesus answered them, "They need not depart; give ye them to eat"! And by feeding the multitude with the five loaves of bread and the two fishes that the disciples had, he then demonstrated that true supply is inexhaustible. He knew so well that man, God's dearly beloved, can never be separated from the Father; that he always has all things as the reflection of the parent Mind.

Another example of present available, supply is related in the twenty-first chapter of Genesis. Banished to the wilderness with her little son, where no human hand was present to save, Hagar soon found herself without water. She laid the lad under a shrub and departed a '"good way off" from him, finding herself unable to bear the picture of his anguish. She had forgotten God's nearness.
