Attracting Pupils to the Sunday School

Children and young people can find in the Christian Science Sunday School that which attracts them, interests them, and helps them to practice the law of God in their daily life. This attraction is the Christ, the true idea of God.

Everyone is interested in himself, and in the Christ is found the true selfhood of every one of us. The Christ is Truth, the power that attracted multitudes to Christ Jesus. When a Sunday School teacher identifies himself with God the Mind of Christ, as Mind's image, he can spiritually discern the Christ qualities in the individual child, and he can express Love's wisdom in awakening the child to find these qualities in himself.

All of this is done through the lessons provided by Mrs. Eddy in the Manual of The Mother Church. In Article XX. Sect. 3, entitled "Subject for Lessons." she gives as the first lessons the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer and its spiritual interpretation in the Christian Science textbook, and the Beatitudes from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. Then she says. "The next lessons consist of such questions and answers as are adapted to a juvenile class, and may be found in the Christian Science Quarterly Lessons read in Church services."
