THE STILL SMALL VOICE

Not long ago a tempest raged.
The night grew dark and bleak and wild;
And fear and dread made me forget
That he was God's beloved child.

But then it came, the still small voice
Of Life and Truth and Love,
That gave me strength to end the lie
And God's all-presence prove.

Life said to me, "He is My child.
His being one in Me,
Perfection and completeness, still.
Alive eternally."

Truth said to me, "He is My child.
Healthy and whole and free;
There is no error that can harm,
For he exists in Me."

Love said to me, so tenderly.
"Don't be afraid; he lives in Me,
For I am Life and Truth and Love
And heal both him and thee."

The healing came, not soon nor late.
For Love knew well the hour
The day would dawn, the truth be claimed
Through Spirit's quickening power.

Dear Father, Life and Truth and Love,
Whose law will set us free.
We treasure now the still small voice
That holds us close to Thee.
