In 1938 I expressed my gratitude for Christian Science in a testimony in The Christian Science Journal. Since that date I have experienced many blessings and much help through Mrs. Eddy's writings, and I should like to say again how much I revere her for her inspired teachings, which have given her a position of paramount importance in the history of Christianity. I am very grateful for two healings which I received through my own prayers. Both these experiences taught me the valuable lesson of perseverance without any labored sense.

About eleven years ago I got into bed one night and found that I could not lie down. I was amazed, because during the day I had not noticed anything wrong with my back. So I sat bolt upright in bed and turned to God for my healing.

I continued to pray and read for a while, but nothing happened. I still had to sit bolt upright. Then I thought I would call a practitioner: but as I put my hand out to the telephone. I saw that it was two o'clock in the morning, and I said to myself: "No, I'm not going to spoil some-one else's night's rest simply because I can't lie down. I will wait until seven o'clock."
