"I waited patiently for the Lord;...
"I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings" (Ps. 40:1, 2). These words are indeed true of my own experience.
I was suddenly awakened one night with a constant cough and strangling sensation. The struggle to breathe was so violent that when I did get my breath I was left voiceless. In a short time I had another attack, this time not so severe. I called a practitioner and managed to gasp, "I cannot breathe."
Her calm, positive declarations of Truth soon quited my fears, and I was able to repeat with her "the scientific statement of being," found in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The statement begins (p.468), "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter."
