Going Steady

[Of Special Interest to Young Men and Women]

How often one hears today the expression "going steady." Popular opinion in some instances insists it is the thing to do. A promise to go steady with someone would require one to devote his dating activity to that one person exclusively. To break such a commitment often results in jealousy, hurt feelings, misunderstandings.

How ready are we to go steady? Let's answer it this way: by putting steadiness in its true light. How ready are we to maintain steadily our unity with God, who has always been and ever will be here for us to acknowledge as our first and only companion, whose devotion never alters, whose understanding is unlimited, who knows no jealousy, and whose warm, tender love never ceases to encircle us and all His children?

If we are demonstrating man's at-one-ment with God, with Life, Truth, and Love, we shall bring to light His qualities in our experience every moment of each day. Then in the right way and at the right time we shall naturally find right human companions coming into our experience.
