Easter Gladness

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Easter is a glad time, for it is the day on which we celebrate Christ Jesus' resurrection. The boys and girls who go to the Christian Science Sunday School learn that this experience of the Master was the final proof he gave to the world that divine Love triumphs over hate. Mrs. Eddy says of Christ Jesus (Science and Health, p. 44), "He proved Life to be deathless and Love to be the master of hate."

During Jesus' healing ministry on earth, throngs of people followed him about as he walked in the city or in the country with his disciples. Some of them came to hear him tell them more about God. Others needed help, and Jesus healed them of sickness and sin. But there were people who hated his goodness and purity and wished to kill him. Of those, he said (Luke 23:34), "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

Three days after the crucifixion Jesus appeared to his disciples. Imagine the joy his disciples must have felt when they saw their Master alive! And he also appeared to them on other occasions during the forty days before his ascension.
