It is sometimes surprising how much of normal human activity is concerned with negotiation of one kind or another. In the home, negotiation often includes the determination of duties by the various members and the reaching of agreement on family activities. In business, labor contracts are negotiated, and so are sales and the purchases of materials and supplies. Treaties among governments are frequent subjects for negotiation.
