Employment Is Unlimited
Christ Jesus was more than a religionist; he was an outstanding Scientist. Mary Baker Eddy writes of him in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 313): "Jesus of Nazareth was the most scientific man that ever trod the globe. He plunged beneath the material surface of things, and found the spiritual cause." Applying his understanding of Spirit and its creative laws to the needs of mankind, he demonstrated God's government of man and the universe in every area of human experience.
Jesus was also an economist, establishing the divine economy— the kingdom of heaven—on earth. At one time he showed five thousand people, and at another time four thousand, the nature of this kingdom by feeding them with an adequate supply of food. The real need in both instances was for the recognition that under the government of divine Principle, Love, everything is in a state of balance. For every need, there is adequate supply.
In everything Jesus did he opened the eyes of the people to the resources of Spirit, in which there is never too much or too little of anything. As Mrs. Eddy writes (ibid., p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This must include the need for health, employment, and opportunity as well as for truth, life, love, and intelligence.
