A Wise Proverb
"What we respond to determines largely our happiness or unhappiness"
An article entitled "Taking Offense" by Mrs. Eddy, published in her "Miscellaneous Writings," begins with this statement (p. 223): "There is immense wisdom in the old proverb, 'He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty.'" In the next paragraph Mrs. Eddy says, "It is our pride that makes another's criticism rankle, our self-will that makes another's deed offensive, our egotism that feels hurt by another's self-assertion."
