When our son was four years...

When our son was four years old, a large swelling appeared on his neck, and he became very ill. A Christian Science practitioner was called; however, fear kept me from putting the child completely in God's care, and there seemed to be little improvement.

Three weeks later I became panicky because the child appeared to be passing on. As I walked out of his room and closed the door, I remembered these Bible words the practitioner had given me: "There were they in great fear, where no fear was" (Ps. 53:5).I realized that all the fear I was feeling had no effect on God or on His child, that God's loving care is changeless and ever in operation. The child slept peacefully after that and in a few days was completely healed.

Several years later, fear again tried to govern me. This time I had the symptoms of arthritis and had difficulty in moving around. With the help of a practitioner, I learned to have radical reliance on God. In a few weeks I was able to move around normally, and it was not long before all evidence of the difficulty had completely disappeared.
