Real Employment
"We have plenty of opportunities to employ our
thoughts spiritually and helpfully "
Employment very often is thought of as a fundamental necessity for normal living and, in its larger aspects, for national life and security. The training and education of youth are usually built on the concept that one must go out into the world and make his living. The individual works and gives of his services and so earns his way in the working world. Ambition, intelligence, skill, friendliness, the will to work, industry, and cooperation are qualities that make for success in the competitive struggle for a livelihood; and, contrariwise, such qualities as laziness, dishonesty, stupidity, and lack of ambition are rightly considered detrimental to progress and success.
