Although my family became interested in Christian Science when I was in the first grade and I loved its teachings and turned always to Truth for the solution of my problems, it was not until nearly twenty-five years ago that the true significance of the Christ was revealed to me. This came in such a glorious revelation that I felt transformed, healed, and free, and the consciousness of man's oneness with God, his Father, was so firmly established that fear and timidity, which had formerly dominated my thinking to a great extent, were almost entirely eliminated.

At one time I began to suffer from an allergy which caused me much pain and even mental distress because I found myself feeling so helpless before it. I decided to rely upon my own spiritual understanding for healing. I had had class instruction in Christian Science some years before, and the teacher had told us on the last day that as a result of the instruction given, we were prepared to be our own practitioners.

I struggled to heal the condition for a very long time. Finally I arrived at a point where I was convinced that no matter what it seemed to be, it was not real because it was not created by God, good, the only creator. I resolved to abide and rejoice in that conviction and not to work any more as I had been doing. This was not easy, but I refused to yield any longer to the temptation to fight the allergy as something real.
