My first healings in Christian Science...

My first healings in Christian Science came as I read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, for the first time. I was healed of an eye condition which had made it necessary for me to wear glasses at work, of constipation, and of sick headaches, to which I had been subject since childhood. It was not, however, for physical healing that I had turned to Christian Science, but rather to find a way out of the labyrinth of frustration which the world calls living. This I found.

At a later date I was ill in bed one day with a severe case of grippe. I had lost my voice, and I suffered acute headache and nausea at the slightest movement. On this Sunday morning a young child who was a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School and her mother stopped in to call on my husband and me on their way home from church. I was quite disturbed at the visit, for I was afraid that the approach of anyone would bring on another upheaval. The child came straight to my room, and after her usual cheery greeting she sat down quietly by the bed to read some comic sheets.

As she sat there, seemingly absorbed in her reading, the thought came to me that the child could help me, but I did not want to ask her. Instantly, on the heels of my desire, she looked up at me and asked, "Would you like me to read to you?"
