RADIO PROGRAM No. 22 - Safety on the Highway

HOST: The problem of highway safety is under constant study as more and more traffic crowds our roads to capacity. More rigid laws have been recommended. New types of road design are proposed. But one great problem remains—the human factor.

Editorial Research Reports brought this out in an issue dealing with "Better Driving." The writer said: "Driver improvement programs are based on the conviction that the human factor holds the key to accident reduction. Some authorities go so far as to assert that scarcely more than 15 per cent of all highway accidents can be attributed solely to car failure or road conditions."

The report went on to emphasize the need for constant watchfulness against the human frailties that cause accidents. This is important; but still there's something more that seems to be needed. What sort of light does the Bible throw on this problem? After all, traffic wasn't much of a danger in those days.
