Sanctified through the truth (John 17:19)

In the Greek, en aletheia means literally "in truth" rather than "through the truth." Plummer notes that in his view " 'in truth' = in reality and not merely in name or appearance," adding that "the expression is quite distinct from 'in the truth' in verse 17," where the best manuscripts read en te aletheia (in the truth) rather than "in thy truth."
