Success

When someone brings a bright light into a dimly lighted room the faces of the people in that room may be more clearly seen. Beautiful expressions appear more beautiful. The joy reflected in someone's face becomes more apparent, but hard lines and deceitful looks lose their disguise and repel where they may have attracted before. All do not appreciate the added light. We read in John (3:19), "This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

One who truly succeeds in the business of being a Christian Scientist takes the light of Truth wherever he goes. He helps others who are earnest students of Christian Science to find what they are seeking. The thought which is less than love for the one who succeeds is working for the wrong thing. If a Christian Science healing shows skill in the practice of the law of Truth, it also shows the God-given capacity of every individual to demonstrate this law.

The light which a practicing Christian Scientist brings into the community in which he practices reveals the infinitude of good and the abundance of man's source of supply and of power. The Scientist who is truly seeking and serving God rejoices in this increased illumination of the human scene. He welcomes and encourages the new practitioner. But if there is a sense of limitation dominating the thought of an individual who is endeavoring to practice Christian Science and if that sense of limitation causes one to regard the coming of the new practitioner with apprehension lest there not be enough work for all to do, the new light may expose this thought and reveal its ugliness.
