"The central fact of the Bible"
The early story of humanity's developing concept of God and of reliance by godly men on His mighty power to bless, save, and heal is to be found in the period covered by Biblical history.
In the present age Mrs. Eddy has revealed to humanity the full and true Science of being, evidenced in the work of the prophets and of Jesus and his apostles. A devout student of the Scriptures, she points out in Science and Health (p. 131), "The central fact of the Bible is the superiority of spiritual over physical power."
This central fact is consistently illustrated throughout the Bible. Noah used his trust in God's superiority to save his family and all creatures from the flood. Abraham followed the Almighty One in establishing a great nation. Moses' dependence on the great I am brought deliverance to a people from enslavement. Elisha raised the dead and performed other wonderful acts by applying his understanding of the power of God. The four Gospels are filled with evidence of God's supreme power as applied by Jesus. And Paul and other apostles also performed mighty acts.
