"Each day I know Him nearer, love Him more, and humbly pray to serve Him better," writes Mrs. Eddy in a letter reprinted on page 174 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany." With gratitude to God I repeat these words from the depths of my heart. My first testimony was printed in 1944. I have continued to rely on Christian Science since then, not only to correct in harmonies which have arisen, but to learn more of the truth of God and man.

During the Second World War, I was working one Christmas season as a salesgirl in a toy department. Since I was also caring for my home and family, the extra work was a burden. A serious foot condition developed to such an extent that one day I felt I could not go on. At noon I walked to a Christian Science Reading Room a few blocks away to spend some time in prayer, but no effective healing truths came to my thought. As the time came to leave, I reached for a Bible, which opened to Isaiah 40:28. I read on to verse 31, which promises, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

I left that room with joy and freedom, completely healed, and I have had no foot trouble since then. Also, the remaining time I worked was unhurried and joyous.
