Activities for the Armed Services

"As a little sanctuary"

Today's column reports on the work of Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services in the North Atlantic. This area is hundreds of miles from The Mother Church and a great distance from its nearest branch.

Through Armed Services Activities, The Mother Church shows its loving concern for those Christian Scientists sent by the Armed Forces of their countries to such isolated places. It exemplifies the Biblical promise, "Thus saith the Lord God; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come" (Ezek. 11:16).

At two installations in Newfoundland, at one in Greenland, and at one in Iceland, Armed Services Activities has Christian Science Ministers. Each of these field workers is holding services. One of them has organized an informal Sunday School for the children of military personnel.
