The first healing that I experienced...

The first healing that I experienced in Christian Science was an instantaneous one of what the physician attending me called internal bleeding tumors. After I had been in bed for six weeks under medical treatment, unable to take care of either my family or myself, a brother came to see me and told me of Christian Science, pointing out that it heals. This was on a Sunday morning; and my brother told me that there was a service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and asked me if I would like to attend it. I consented to go; so I was helped to dress and was taken to church.

I shall never forget the peaceful and loving atmosphere of that service. These words read from the desk stood out to me (Gen. 1:31): "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." This thought stayed with me; and when the service was over, I walked out of the church completely free from pain and weakness. I had such a wonderful feeling of cleanliness.

I came home and served dinner to my family. It was wonderful to be able to do such a thing after so many weeks of inactivity. As the days went by and I led a normal, active, happy life, I realized that the healing was complete, and it has been permanent. I shall never cease to be grateful for this healing. With it a new way of living opened up for me.
