NO ACCRETION OR DEPLETION IN MAN

Man is God's offspring, His perfect sinless reflection. Man cannot be less or more than God's complete idea. Were man subject to accretion or depletion, it would be possible for him to become diseased or to lose an essential element of his being by some accidental happening or discordant condition. But this is an impossibility, for man, being entirely spiritual, exists forever in the realm of reality, security, health, and Life. Christian Scientists are demonstrating these truths in daily life by destroying disease, sin, and other inharmonies which may beset them.

The perfect nature of creation cannot be changed. No change whatsoever is possible for man, God's image and likeness. The Preacher apparently recognized this truth, for he said (Eccl. 3:14), "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it." God makes man, and man, then, cannot have anything added to him or taken from him.

"Christian Science presents unfoldment, not accretion," writes Mrs. Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 68); and she adds, "It manifests no material growth from molecule to mind, but an impartation of the divine Mind to man and the universe."
