Signs of the Times
The Reverend Harold E. Fey, D.D. as reported in the Lincoln Evening Journal and Nebraska State Journal Lincoln, Nebraska
It was an interesting message that Dr. Harold E. Fey of Chicago, editor of The Christian Century, brought to the Nebraska Ministers Convocation at North Platte.
He said, ... "There should be a slackening of the emphasis on numbers and converts—too many churches multiply membership with little emphasis on 'why'?" Religion must be a growing force if it is to survive, but as Dr. Fey points out, an essential part of that growth is more careful and more discriminating Bible study. The strength of the church is not membership alone, but the deep convictions of its members.
