OBEDIENCE TO GOD ASSURES HEALTH

The world has always needed a scientific knowledge of health: what it is and how it can be demonstrated. Christian Science is the Science of health; it defines health not as a material condition but as a quality of God, expressed through man, God's idea and likeness. This Science reveals the eternal presence of health in individual consciousness, available to everyone.

According to the Science of health, God is divine Mind, and His creation is made up of spiritual ideas, which are dependent upon the Mind that knows them for every quality characterizing them. Mind's knowing is the only creative process, and that idea to which Mind gives existence is obedient to Mind. Through the action of His will, His law, God makes and maintains the health of His ideas. What God wills is the order of real being, including man's health, or harmony. And God enforces obedience to His law of health.

Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 104), "In obedience to the divine nature, man's individuality reflects the divine law and order of being." In Mind's perfectly ordered realm, man cannot disobey God; he cannot leave the divine order, for it is Truth's changeless arrangement. But disobedience is what error, or supposititional mortal mind, would claim.
