I first turned to Christian Science...
I first turned to Christian Science when I was suffering from a nervous breakdown. This breakdown was accompanied by extreme fear, loss of appetite, and insomnia. I was finally unable to do any kind of work. A practitioner helped me through this trial; and when discouragement would tempt me, this statement from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was a great help (p. 410): "The more difficult seems the material condition to be overcome by Spirit, the stronger should be our faith and the purer our love."
My healing did not come at once, but gradually I became stronger and less fearful as I began to learn more of God and of His great love for His reflection, man. I spent a great deal of time studying Science and Health and the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly. Soon I was able to return to work, and my healing was complete.
Grief over the passing on of a dear friend was overcome when I realized that she was going on living and loving and that the Godlike qualities she reflected were being expressed by others around me. "Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord" (Jer. 23:24).
