When our youngest daughter...

When our youngest daughter was six weeks old, she developed a rash that spread rapidly. My husband, who is not a student of Christian Science, became alarmed and insisted upon taking her to a baby specialist in a nearby city.

The doctor's diagnosis was that the baby had a severe case of eczema and that she would have to be bottle-fed from then on. He gave us several prescriptions to have filled; and although he stated he did not expect any change, he asked us to write to him in a week and to bring her back in two weeks, as it would be necessary to change the prescription and put her on another formula.

I was rather a new student in Christian Science at that time and had witnessed a number of healings through my own efforts with our other children. I did not call upon a Christian Science practitioner, and now I felt I should not do so since we had turned to a doctor for assistance. However, I silently denied all the material laws the doctor laid down regarding her condition as soon as he expressed them.
